HONOR launched the Robot Phone in China on August 12, 2026 — a device built around a physical 4DoF motorised gimbal system in collaboration with ARRI, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Here is everything you need to know about what is inside and why it matters.

The 4DoF Gimbal System

7,060mAh silicon-carbon battery: Silicon-carbon anodes pack more energy into a smaller cell than standard graphite. This is why HONOR can fit a near-7,000mAh battery into a premium chassis without it ballooning in thickness.

6,800 nits peak brightness: One of the highest peak brightness figures on any phone — enough to use the display as a reference monitor outdoors while filming in direct sunlight, which actually matters if you’re using LogC3.

AI video calling mode: The gimbal arm repositions automatically during video calls to keep all participants in frame — not a crop, but a physical re-angle. HONOR refers to this as “all-angle AI video calling.”

Verdict

The HONOR Robot Phone is genuinely new architecture — not a spec refresh but a different category of device. If the India launch price lands anywhere near the China equivalent, it will be competing directly with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max, but with a hardware differentiator neither of those can match.
